British Governess

The importance of finding the perfect Governess to educate your children is absolutely crucial.

A Governess concentrates on the intellectual and social development of your child and she is normally available to travel with the family.  She is responsible for overseeing your children and their upbringing, and the many aspects of your child's education. She will use a variety of teaching methods and techniques, and can teach your child any subject. A governess is a private teacher/tutor/mentor for school aged children to either replace or supplement their school education. They are often qualified school teachers who are looking for a more diverse and interesting role. She will be experienced in teaching children aged between three and sixteen, and will modify her teaching methods to ensure that your child thrives. She is also recognised for her ability to support social, cultural and emotional development along with providing a first-class education.

A governess is also an asset to your child's educational development outside of the aforementioned scenarios. Many parents require their children to be taught etiquette, culture and languages. Very often she is capable of teaching musical instruments such as the piano, and additional skills such as swimming and tennis.
It isn't just the curriculum that your child will learn, either. Your governess will teach your child key attributes such as courage, independence and self-reliance, and help them to develop their own personality.

UK Governess’ duties include:
  • Tutoring English and educating children in their homes
  • Helping children to develop their social skills
  • Teaching proper etiquette and manners.
Additional qualifications:
  • The spoken and written command of more than one language (bilingual)
  • The ability to teach a musical instrument or sport.
How much will a UK governess cost?
A governess is often placed with clients abroad. She frequently lives with the family and works five to six days a week. The requirements and responsibilities are substantial, but a suitably qualified British governess can expect to earn a salary starting from between £700 to £1,500 per week. Remuneration increases the greater the experience and education of the individual.
